KENNETH "KEN" BIARNESEN

Died 11/09/2003

Gurnee, Illinois

After graduating from Grant High School in 1952 I joined the U. S. Navy (1952 - 1955).  After the Navy I went to work at Fansteel, Inc., where I worked at Fansteel for 35 years, retiring in February 1991.

I met Denise Downie at Fansteel and we married in 1956.  We have three children:  Dawn (Bob) Deason; Bobbi (Jim) Siver and Mike (Vicki) Biarnesen and eight grandchildren (five boys and three girls, ranging in age from 21 to 11) and one great-grand daughter.

I've been an avid Chicago Bears and White Sox fan most of my life.  I enjoy playing golf and my "claim to fame" is two holes-in-one, in two separate golf leagues in the summer of 1997.  I'm also a devoted Walleye fisherman and enjoy an annual trip to Minnesota for the Walleye opening week with my son and two sons-in-law.  We've made this trip for at least fifteen years.  Since Denise's retirement from Abbott in 1993 she and I have made a two-week fall trip there in October.

Last year was our first year at “snow-birding” in Riverview, Florida, although we have spent several weeks there in the winter for the last four or five years.  We're looking forward to a repeat performance this winter!

I wish that we could attend the reunion, but we will be on our annual fall Walleye fishing trip to Minnesota for 2 weeks.  Hope that you all have a great time!
