Vivian and her
husband Everett have four children and ten grandchildren. She spent the early years of her children’
growth as a homemaker and mother. In
the mid-1970’s she and her family moved to the Daytona Beach area of Florida
where her husband opened up an auto-shop.
She helped her husband in this business, going for auto parts, answering
the phone and doing some of the bookwork.
In 1981 and ’82, Vivian lost her parents, which resulted in her inheriting their home the home she grew up in, in Round Lake Beach. They decided to move back to Round Lake.
As a retiree, Vivian is doing a lot of volunteer work at her
church, at a Baptist home for the aged and after the Gulf War was an active
member of The Round Lake Organization of People Support (TROOPS). This organization provided emotional and
financial support to the troops and their families. She was instrumental in organizing the largest parade Round Lake
has ever had for this endeavor. The volunteers
of the group also made a quilt that had the name and rank of those who served,
embroidered on the squares. This quilt
was on display at the Senior Center for some time.
Vivian is pleased her children are happy, well adjusted and have made fine parents. She is sad that she does not see them more often, as they live at such distances. They reside in Florida, North Carolina, Virginia and Kentucky.
