After high school, had a year at Marquette U, then another year at Bradley. After the two years at college, I returned to Ingleside, and a Route Sales job with Wonder Bread. About that time I got drafted into the Army, and spent two years as a Finance Clerk, serving most of my time just outside Yokohama, Japan. I was lucky not to get shipped to Korea, and had a great time in Japan.

After the military, I did selling at several levels for Carnation Company in the Illinois/Indiana/Michigan area, and lived in Lansing, Illinois. That lasted until 1969, when I teamed up with two others to start a chain of pizza restaurants in Florida.

In business, as in marriage, sometimes people just don’t get along, and after three years I had enough, and left to “find my fortune” somewhere else.

I’d settled in the West Palm Beach area, and went to work for a wholesaler doing what I knew best: Sales. That lasted for 22 years until my employer downsized, and quite a few of us got “pink-slips” with our paychecks.

From there I went to selling liquor for a couple of Rum Importers. In 1997 I semi-retired, and started collecting the “benefits.” I work part-time as a Courier for a dental lab, and live in Lantana, a West Palm Beach suburb some 35 miles north of Fort Lauderdale.

I’ve been close to marriage a few times, but I’ve seen too much hostility and pain in the lives of married friends/associates....so, I’m still single.
