After graduation, Ron spent two years in the Army in the Engineers Corp. Fifteen months of that was spent in Japan. When his tour of duty was over, he returned to his home area and started working as a Welder for Northern Illinois Gas Co. After 35 years with them, he retired in 1993 as a Crew Leader. 

Ron married his wife Angeline in 1960 and they are the parents of two daughters, Frances and Jennifer who has given them their two grandchildren. They lived in Lindenhurst for the first 10 years of their married life, but returned to Ingleside where they have resided since 1971. 

Ron enjoys fishing, bowling every week and yard work around his home.
