year book predicted that I would live in a cave with only a parrot for company.
After the death of the parrot, I left the cave and saw most of Europe, courtesy
of Uncle Sam and the US Army.
Upon my return to the States, I went back to finish college and met the gal
who would become my bride. We've been married for forty-one years. We have
three sons - all grown and married. They have presented us with five
grandchildren, ranging in age from one year to six years.
To add to the excitement, I've had three hip replacements and two
angioplasties. I've been an independent agent for State Farm Insurance for
almost thirty-two years. You'll still find me in my office in Cary, Illinois
every day.
I've performed in a number of plays and musicals at the Opera House in
Woodstock, Illinois and have secured my place in history as an irish cop! I've
also sung in a barbershop chorus for several years, that took first place in
statewide competition.
My hobbies include the Experimental Aircraft Association (I'm a charter
member and past president of Chapter 790) and the McHenry County Civil War Round
Table. (You can ask me just about anything about the Civil War - you can ask
me, but I may or may not be able to answer!)
In my free time, I'm continuing to work on the four passenger Zenair Tri-Z
aluminum airplane that I've been building for more years than I care to mention!
Travel is still an important part of our lives and we've been over the pond
to Europe over twenty times. We've also visited Hawaii on several occasions
(usually anniversaries) and the islands of Puerto Rico and Barbados.
Looking back over the fertilizer, I notice little green shoots here and
there. It's been a pretty good fifty years!
