PHYLLIS “PHYL” (WERHAN) BAUER

Phyllis is the mother of six children and grandmother of ten.  During a successful career with Avon Product, Inc. she received many awards for excellence in sales, including the company's highest honors for sales achievement.  She retired from her District Sales Manager position in 1981.  At that time she took up her life long interest of family history. In 1981 she became a co-founder of the McHenry County, Illinois, Genealogical Society.  She has served that group in various official capacities.  She has served on the Board of Directors of the Illinois State Genealogical Society. In 1989 she co-chaired the Fall Conference for that group.  She has attended many state and local conferences as well as a National Genealogical Society Conference.  She is a graduate of the National Genealogical Society Home Study Course and other genealogical study courses.  For a number of years she did research work in the county for those who needed records for their ancestors.  Since 1987 she has edited a quarterly surname publication. She has also authored four family histories.  Phyllis' latest endeavor has been in to the field of web page design.  She has created and maintains two web sites on the Internet; one for her own publishing and one for the McHenry County Genealogical Society.  Besides genealogy interests, Phyllis enjoys family activities and playing golf with her husband of 49 years, Roman.  They spend four of the winter months in the Palm Springs area of California.  Here they enjoy golf, their view of the mountains, and eating out at the great restaurants.  Her faith in God has sustained her during the ups and downs of life.  She feels very blessed to have had the opportunity to live her life doing the things she has enjoyed doing the most.
