CLASS NEWS LETTER

Here is a note from Laverne Beskow-Thompson:  Jim The Early Childhood School where I am Asst Director is on the web! I wrote the copy and did the layout - but not the technical stuff of putting it on the web.  I am listed under Administration.  Please let me know what you think of it.  lindenhurstearlychildhoodcenter.com

Art Smejkal called about the June news letter and thought the idea of going       some place special for the 50th reunion sounded like a good idea, He was in        favor of a cruise and he didn’t care where it went as long as it left the dock. His  wife was ready to go next week. Art lives near Freeport Illinois, west of Rockford and he has a boat for relaxation. Art has a new e-mail davisams@aeroinc.net

Received an e-mail from Don Gerstein and his wife Dolores.  Hi Jim, Send the letter on. Would be interested in your newsletter & a cruise if you don't mind two from 1953 with you. Sounds like fun. We haven't been notified of ours for the last several times guess they couldn't find us.

Take care, Don & Dolores Gerstein

Also received a phone call from Ed Klecka 9360 Eric Circle Kingston, Il. 60145 He lives in Kingston Ill out in the boonies like Smejkal. Ed is retired from American Airlines and loving every minute of it, he recently got together with Don Rosing and talked about their days in the service. Ed enlisted in 1951 with Bob Burns & Ed Cunningham.

Donna Casey-Cushing sent an e-mail saying she just had a nice long letter from Elaine Raska-Pudom who now lives at 5410 E. Hill St. Long Beach California 90815-1922 with her husband Tarvin. Below is Elaine as most of you remember her.

I talked to my brother Bob Umbarger class president 1953 and he has no interest in class reunions and will not plan one for his class. Jim Jensen Vice President in 1953 passed away. Jim did their last reunion.  if anyone knows someone from the class of 1953, or how to get a mailing list, we would be happy to include them in our activities.

Phyllis Werhan-Bauer encouraged me to continue the news letters and to inform everyone She now has her graduation picture and a more current picture is now on ClassMates.com

Look up the class of 1952 and check her out, we should all look that good after 50 years.

Letter from Carla Andrew-Bales. She retired from Abbott 3 years ago. The first thing I did was take a cruise to Alaska. Then I bought a truck & fifth wheeler travel trailer – have been to Colorado, Iowa, Arkansas, Florida, North Carolina and many trips to Minneapolis to see my grandkids. My grandson is always glad to see me because he likes to sleep in the trailer & my granddaughter likes to see me because she loves my dog!! The last time I was in Florida I saw Donna Casey, Barb Baker & Don & Delores Gerstein. WE all had a great time talking over old times. I do volunteer work at the hospital – belong to a couple of clubs – so manage to keep busy – in fact I wonder how I had time to work!!

Received the last news letter back from Betty Lou Lents-Smith unable to forward does anyone know Betty’s new address.?

E-Mail from Joan Weider class of 1953.  Hello, would like to locate Jane Klein or Helen Corrigan from class of 1953. Doubt could make it there for a reunion............presently in Alaska for the summer.........Joan (Besau) Weider “she doesn’t realize we are talking about 2002”
