...  Happy New Year.....   is it still costing you to keep up the website for our old school?  I will be happy to send a donation if you would like.... hope all is well with you and the family.... Gerry

My answer to Gerry

Hi Gerry

I appreciate your offer to help with the web site, I moved the site over to GoDaddy.com to save money and Gordy Cole has been helping by sending money every Christmas.

I don't think many in our class care about it, I am not receiving much in the way of news from anyone. My first news letter on the web site was December 1999.

I decided to build the site in the beginning and excepted to pay the cost, if someone else wants' to take it over it is ok with me.

Are you still traveling around a lot, my wife can't walk every good she has a bad back, I bought her a very nice wheel chair but she won't use it, she doesn't want to look like an old lady, I ask her what she thinks she is, so we are stuck at home I still work 7 days a week but plan on backing off in 2011 and letting the kids run the business 100% I will be 78 by then

Sorry to hear about your wife....  I guess my idea would be to go however I had to... I actually forget to look often at the site...but appreciate it....and your work on it.  We are getting a late start out of here this year... I am fighting a virus thing now...just enough to be aggravating... and had some family things to help with...now the storm is coming in and we wish we were down in FL already.  We still plan on being in Fort Myers Beach for Feb....we paid for it already last year.  So time will tell.  Gloria Thorne wrote that the " Grant gang" is still planning on getting together but does not know where as yet...so hope I am down there for that.  Of course there are a lot less because of health and so on.
Don't put off the retirement...it goes by too fast anyway...  Sure glad that my husband took the money and ran when he was 62... we are indeed blessed and hope it lasts yet for a bit.  Today will probably be a day for him to snow blow and help the widows around here with their driveways....he would rather be walking the beach...needless to say.  We find people traveling with the motor homes and "lifts"...anything to keep going even if the wife or husband needs the help.  Take care... thanks again....   best to you both.... Gerry

Hi Jim,

This letter has been going around. My daughter in Ariz. e-mailed it to me and also my sister in law in Ill.. It's a great letter and a lesson to be learned.

I really enjoyed the "Memories E-mail". The pictures of all the movie stars and singers and their ages. It brought back a fond memory. Back in Summer of 1955, I was going out with Ann Erikson. We had a Sat. date and when I arrived to pick her up, her cousin was there. The Olsons had come out from Chicago to spend the week-end at their house. The folks had all gone out for the evening and left Ann's cousin with her to "baby sit". Well, we had a dinner date, so we took little Margaret with us. She was around 15 at that time. We went to dinner at Smart's Country House in Antioch. Had a great time. That is why I can say I took Ann Margaret out to dinner. Her given name is Margaret Ann Olson.  That still is a great memory.

Just want to say Thanks again for the e-mails and keeping the web site going.

I received the link below from my daughter who's step-son is Kurt Rous, Head Football Coach at Grant.

Check out the Grant website www.grantbulldogs.org and you can see a picture of the new football field being installed.

Also, according to this "issue" of the website, our old building is being demolished and replaced with a two story wing. If you want some bricks from it, they will be available the end of August. A real conversation piece would be to have a patio built out of those bricks.

ALL ALUMNI REUNION

I had the pleasure of visiting with Carla (Andrews) Bales yesterday at the All Alumni Reunion held at Marvela's in Ingleside (or is it Fox Lake now?) Bonnie Westin, Fred Knaack and his wife were there and from other classes that you might remember, there was Marilyn Orth, Jackie Pettikow (sp?), and Jackie Stagg. I visited quite a bit with Joie (Robinson) Bledsoe (Class of 1950) with whom I was good friends for a number of years after high school. We are god-parents for one of their sons and they for one of our daughters.

Being a natural born record keeper of people and families (genealogy has been one of my avocations), I looked to see if I had recorded the death of Patti Orth-Flohr and found the last death I have recorded is for Nancy (Arnesen) Williamson in December of 2007. Surely there have been more of our class who have passed on to Eternity in 2008 and 2009. If you know of any, please let me know and in the future, let me know of any others you may hear about. Thanks!

Also, remember: the All Alumni Reunion is held the first Wednesday of May and of October. The Class of 1954 had a special gathering to one side of the banquet hall. I thought that was a fine idea and the Class of 1952 might want to consider that for the first Wednesday of May in 2010. No fuss - no muss.

The person to contact for a reservation is Marguerite KREILING-DROZD, grannyMCD7@aol.com Class of 1950. Cost is $11.00 for the buffet, and I thought the food was quite good considering buffets are not my favorite thing.

 Have a great day!

 Phyllis
