Many thanks for sending on the info....   had no idea that we even had a website....  as you know I am not much on the computer....but appreciate the info sent on to me.  Do I owe someone any money towards that?  I got the luncheon notice....but about given up on going out to eat much as I have to always worry about the food and allergies....   we were back to my husbands Navy reunion....but as usual had to "hold school" in each restaurant that we went to.....they have a separate menu for gluten allergies...but no one knows about sulfites... also they don't know about the potatoes and so on that get sprayed to keep them from sprouting but sure about kills me if I get into it...so have to buy the organic stuff now.  Anyway...still glad to hear whatever news....   Thanks... hope all is well with you.... Gerry

F. James 'Jim' Lumber
1/6/1935 - 12/2/2013

F. James ďJimĒ Lumber, age 78, of Round Lake, passed away Monday, Dec. 2, 2013, at Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital.
He was born January 6, 1935 in Ingleside. Raised in Ingleside, he graduated from Grant Community High School. He attended Marquette University on a full football scholarship, and earned his BA and MA in English Literature from Marquette University. He later earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Michigan.
Early in his career, Jim taught and coached at Grant Community High School. He maintained a law practice until his death, and enjoyed representing school districts and townships. For nearly 45 years, Jim represented the Greater Round Lake Fire Protection District, and also represented the First Fire Protection District of Antioch until his passing.
Jim was elected in 1967 to the first Board of Trustees for the College of Lake County, coming in second in a field of over 50 candidates. He was the first Board Chairman for CLC, and served for 35 years on the Board, including several terms as Board President. Jimís wisdom and insight shepherded CLC from a small upstart community college in temporary classrooms to the beautiful and functional educational facility that CLC has become. To honor Jimís service and his love for the fine arts, CLC rededicated the performing arts wing at the Grayslake Campus the James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts in August 2003.
Jim and his family moved into the familyís homestead in the Village of Round Lake in 1967. Jim served as Mayor/Village President for three terms from 1993 until 2001. Under Jimís leadership, the framework for Round Lakeís residential growth was developed. Jimís greatest accomplishments as Mayor revolved around the redevelopment and improvements to the downtown central business district that included the construction of the Veterans Memorial Park at the corner of Cedar Lake Road and Railroad Avenue, the new Village Hall, and beginning the process to construct the new police/public works facilities.
Jim loved to read, especially history related to World War II. A favorite notable quote of Jimís was ďYou donít always have to agree with everyone, but you need to be man enough to shake hands and move on.Ē Jim was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother, and will also be remembered as a gentleman, neighbor, counselor, and friend who will be greatly missed by all.
He is survived by the love of his life and his wife of 48 years, Barbara, whom he wed on May 1, 1965; two sons, F. James Lumber II of Ingleside and Robert (Chris) Lumber of McHenry; five grandchildren, F. James III, Jonathan, Allison, Lauren and Timothy, and three siblings, Charlene Van Kirk, John Lumber, and Mary Olander. He is also survived by Richard Van Kirk, Tina Richardson, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank ďBudĒ and Evelyn (Amann) Lumber; and a nephew, James Van Kirk.
Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, December 5, 2013, at the James Lumber Center for Performing Arts at the College of Lake County in Grayslake.
The funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday, December 6, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 114 N. Lincoln Avenue, Round Lake. Friends should go directly to church Friday.
     Interment will be private.
Memorials in Jimís memory may be directed to the CLC Foundation, 19351 W. Washington Street, Grayslake, IL 60030.
Arrangements were entrusted to Justenís Round Lake Funeral Home. For information, call the funeral home at 847-546-3300, or visit www.justenfh.com.
